As a lyric tenor, Sean Parr, has performed many operatic roles throughout Europe and
the U.S., including the title roles in Gounod's Faust and Massenet's Werther, Rodolfo in
La Bohème, Ferrando in Cosí fan tutte, Nemorino in L'Elisir d'Amore, Kaspar in Amahl
and the Night Visitors, and Acis in Handel's Acis and Galatea. He has performed with
companies such as the Natchez Festival of Music, Opera North, Regina Opera, Bronx
Opera, Brooklyn Repertory Opera, Amadeus Opernensemble (Salzburg), Eastern Festival
Opera, and the Irvington Music Festival. In concert, he has performed as tenor soloist
in works such as Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, and Saint-Saëns' Christmas
Oratorio, as well as several Bach cantatas.
The son of two professional musicians, Dr.
Parr holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University, his M.M. from Florida State University,
and a B.A. in Music and Mathematics from Dartmouth College. He now serves as
Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Dickinson College, where he conducts the
chamber choir and teaches courses on opera, music history, American music, and
performance.
