Konrad Fritz

J. Konrad Fritz is well known in the Central Pennsylvania area through his performances with OperaLancaster and various other performing groups. As well as having many leading roles with OL he has also performed leading roles with the Harrisburg Opera Company, Center Stage Opera, Capitol Opera and with Temple University Opera Theater in Philadelphia. He has appeared onstage in productions at First Stage Theater in Lititz, Harrisburg Community Theater, Little Theater of Mechanicsburg and the Ephrata Performing Arts Center. Additionally, he has served as music director and conductor for several OL productions.

This is the content for Layout P Taga vocalist he has appeared in concert with the Ambler Choral Society, the York Symphony, the Shippensburg University Festival Chorus, the Harrisburg Symphony and has also been featured as a soloist in the Verdi Requiem with the Franklin and Marshall College Choir and Orchestra, the Central Pennsylvania Symphony, the Lancaster Symphony (Carl Orff, Carmina Burana), the Hershey Symphony, the Central Pennsylvania Choral Festival and benefit concerts for the Susquehanna Chorale and the Heritage House of Elizabethtown.

He is a founding member of the Central Pennsylvania Symphony and is currently serving as principal viola. Additionally, he performs with the Berks Sinfonietta. He has been a member of the York Symphony, Brevard (FL) Symphony, Hershey Symphony, and Schuylkill Symphony. Also Mr. Fritz has performed with the Shippensburg University Summer Festival Orchestra, the Franklin and Marshall College Orchestra and the Bloomsburg University Orchestra.

Mr. Fritz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from West Chester University with a dual concentration in voice and viola. He has pursued additional studies at Millersville, Wilkes, Penn State and Temple Universities. While at Temple, Mr. Fritz was in the Master of Music in voice performance program. As a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music he was the recipient of several awards including the John Darrenkamp Voice Scholarship, the Ella Mae Minert Memorial Voice Scholarship and several Academy Vocal Scholarships. He was a member of the Susquehanna Chorale, a nationally known chamber choir, for sixteen seasons.

Mr. Fritz was a public school music teacher, recently retiring after 34 years in the classroom. Twenty-nine of those years were in the Penn Manor School District. During his tenure he taught all grade levels from grades 1-12 and everything from classroom music to vocal-choral music to instrumental music, but his primary focus was strings. He has taught for the Strings Excell Summer String Camp at Elizabethtown College since 1993 and also served as music director and conductor of the Lancaster County Junior Orchestra, recently stepping down after 7 years on the podium.

He currently resides in Manheim Township, Lancaster County and is an avid gardener and cook.
