Center Stage Opera is very fortunate to have dedicated and talented staff, performers and volunteers who work together to bring you a total opera experience. Please read below to learn more about the people who are involved in CSO.

Kathryn McCarney Foster - lyric coloratura

Kathryn is a graduate of Gettysburg College with a degree in music and languages.As Founder/General Director/Artistic Director of Center Stage Opera she hopes to provide many opportunities for local, regional, and national talent at all levels and in all aspects of the opera medium.

She began her musical career early,playing piano.Her vocal career began as a teenager, as one of the original members of the Pixies.

She has been soloist for the Gettysburg College Choir, Grantham Oratorio Society, Wednesday Club, Trinity Lutheran Church Choir,Harrisburg Singers, Jubilate, and The Central Pennsylvania Oratorio Singers.

She performed many operas with the Harrisburg Civic Opera Co.Her roles included;Ciesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata, Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Adina in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore. With Opera Outreach, an educational performing group, she has sung the roles of Gretel.in Hansel and Gretel, Papagena/ Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Olympia in Tales of Hoffman, and Yum-Yum in the Mikado.With Capitol Opera Sacramento she sang the role of Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme .With Capitol Opera Harrisburg she has sung the roles of Manon in Massenet’s Manon, Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen, Patience in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience, and Suzel in Mascagni’s L’Amico Fritz. With Center Stage Opera she sang the role of Gretel in CSO’s debut opera Hansel and Gretel.

She presently studies with Marilyn Cotlow of Falls Church, Va.

At the present time, she is a vocal and piano teacher and coach, a professional massage therapist,and a teacher of Tai Chi and self defense.

She wishes to thank her family and friends for all their love and support.
