David Serero

David Serero was born on April 22nd 1981 in Paris, France. He started to play the Piano from the age of thirteen and singing from the age of sixteen. At the age of sixteen, he studied for one year at the American School of Modern Music in Paris. And then for two years, he studied Piano Jazz at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris.

As a songwriter,  David moved to New-York in 2001 to promote his own compositions. He then discovered Broadway and the musicals. He studied acting for 3 years at the legendary acting school of NYC :The H.B studio. He was the student of Ed Morehouse and Anne Jackson. David will interpret the theater roles of Stanley from A Streetcar named desire by Tenessee Williams , Uncle Louie from Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon
and Mark Anthony from Julius Caesar by Shakespeare (David's favorite playwriter).

David will assist at the workshop of the Actor's Studio of NYC. Among musicals, David Serero performed The Phantom from The Phantom of the opera, The Beast from The Beauty and the beast and Freddy E-Hill from My Fair Lady, which will brought him a large stage experience.

On September 2002 , David goes to the Opera for the first time of his life. He is astonished by the incredible performance of one singer: the Russian Tenor Vladimir Galouzine, performing the part of Calaf from the Opera "Turandot". This very same night, David Serero decides to become an opera singer.
"Vladimir Galouzine is the first reason of my passion for Opera".

In 2002, Vladimir Galouzine accepts to teach for the first time a singer. He chooses David Serero as his first pupil. David became the first singer whose Vladimir Galouzine accepted to teach.

As he was living in NYC, David studied Art and Art History for one year. In December 2004, David moves to St Petersburg to study in the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, and is accepted in the Opera and Dramatic Theater department . He followed the acting classes of Igor Svetlov Vyniaminovitch. David Serero is cast to sing the part of Scarpia, from the Opera Tosca for the up-coming production of the Conservatory. He is then only 23 years old....

During a production of La Traviata, David Serero is performing the part of Germont. The soprano interpreting the part of Violetta recommends him for an audition to Larissa
Gergieva (Director of the Young Singer Academy of the Mariinsky Theater). After 3 successful auditions , David is accepted in the Academy. He is the first non-Russian to
be part of the prestigious Mariinsky Theater, directed by Valery Gergiev. There, David will study the Russian repertoire with roles such as Prince Yeletsky, Prince Igor and Eugene Onegine as well as the Russian Literature.

In June 2005, David Serero is graduated from the conservatory as Soloist with the "Honor" mention. Back in Paris in July 2006, David participates in the Masterclass of the French Baritone Jean-Philippe Lafont at the Festival of Sceaux. He worked with him on the role of Iago (David's favorite role). "To study Iago with Jean-Philippe Lafont was like studying "My way" with Franck Sinatra, Mr Lafont's being the best interpretation of Iago today..." David Serero also participated in the writing of the biography of his Idol, Mentor and friend the Russian Tenor Vladimir Galouzine.  Published in English and Russian, the book is written by Natalia Bulgakova. Click here to order the book

In August 2006, David participates at the Marmande Opera competition in France. Among the jury members figures Mr Cristian Mihailescu (Director of the Brasov Opera, Romania) and Alain Nonat (Director of the Lyricoregia20 Theater of Montreal, Canada). After listening at the performance of David Serero, they both offered him to replace a singer to perform in their up-coming production of Carmen in Romania. Within a three day notice, David performed the part of Escamillo from the opera Carmen. This performance has been released on DVD. In October 2006, David Serero founded his own production company named "Opera for all" with the goal to promote Opera everywhere. David has a simple principle for it: "If you can not go to the Opera, Then the opera will come to you" . David
organizes opera productions and concerts for the same prize as a movie theater ticket.

In February 2007, David meets one of the best Tenor of today: Rolando Villazon. After having heard David singing, Mr Villazon decided to advice David Serero during some "mini-masterclass". Watch Video

In April 2007, David Serero sang for the most extraordinary baritone Mr Dmitri Hvorostovky. In May 2007, David Serero records his first album named "My Way...of singing Sinatra..." including the most famous success by Frank Sinatra.The songs are available on the audio page. The recording has been released on July 25th 2007.

During August 2007, David Serero will be recording a Disc of Opera Baritone arias. The Album should be available from September 2007.
