Christopher S. Connelly (baritone) ... is thrilled to be back at CSO as Rigoletto, a role he first sang here in 2014. Other CSO outings include the title role in Verdi's "Scottish opera," Iago in Otello, Di Luna in Il Trovatore, Carlo in Forza, Rodrigo in Don Carlo and Scarpia in Tosca. Atlanta audiences have also heard his Michele in Capitol City's Il Tabaro. He trained, among other places, at Mason Gross’ Opera at Rutgers program. On the concert stage, he has sung the title role in Der fliegende Holländer with Indra Thomas, Renato in Ballo for the Atlantic Coast Opera Festival, as well as in The Manhattan Touring Opera Company’s Verdi (2006) and Puccini (2007) marathon concerts. Christopher has also worked extensively in musical theatre. Favorite roles include Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Billy Bigelow in Carousel and Littlechap in Stop The World… In his copious spare time Christopher is completing a scholarly biography of stage and speak-easy legend Helen Morgan, although he himself spends little time sitting on pianos. His video essays and special materials grace Kino’s DVD release of Rouben Mamoulian’s Applause.
